Makers Mark   Very Deep punch

These Tongs weigh 1 3/8 ounces. They have a small very skillful repair to one arm which may be contemporary with manufacture; It is almost invisible without a loop. The top of each arm is finished with an embossed rose and the bow has a very distinctive shape and bright cut engraving. There is no monogram in the cartouche. The bowls are fan shaped and very finely cast. As there is no duty mark these tongs must date to between 1773 and 1783.
