These tongs are a reversion to the style in favour 120 years earlier. They are finely cast and have a strengthening repair to the inside which has been extremely skillfully done and may be contemporary with the tongs. The hallmarks and makers mark are, unusually on the outside of the bow. This has resulted in wear and the date letter has disappeared; however the London Leopard and the Sterling lion marks are still visible. There is no monogram and the tongs weigh 1 1/4 ounces.
Hallmarks to exterior of bow.
