John Lambe
1762-1796
John Lambe was from a family of silversmiths and was himself a specialist spoon maker. His first recorded mark is 1772, but he is recorded as working before that and Grimwade believed there was at least one mark in the lost register.

Hallmarked for London between 1785 and 1791; John Lambe's mark as above was registered in 1782, which fits nicely. The tongs are bright cut with acorn bowls and a betrothal monogram to the bow for HA and TM. There are no repairs but one of the bowls is slightly bent at the tip. They weigh 1 1/4 ounces and are 5 1/4 inches long.
