Critique on the DOGS

I was interested to find that the entry was largely made up of dogs with a rich gold coat colour - as I haven’t seen this many gold coats in years I feel it may warrant comment! The majority of award winners were gold rather than cream, reflecting the entry, although the few creams present were generally very high quality animals, and most made the cards. There were also very few absentees.

SPECIAL VETERAN DOG  (3,0 Absent)

1st Mrs LC Linfield’s  TONARA GUY FAWKES JW

Lovely angulation on this 9 year old boy. In excellent coat and moving soundly though taking time to get into his stride Pleasing head and expression,  super reach of neck and has retained his firm topline.

2nd Mr RC & Mrs LJE Maynard’s CH CHINNORDALE DUDLEY

Lovely 10 year old gentleman, in rich gold coat, still carrying himself well, moving accurately and with drive. Pleasing head and expression and strong firm topline.
3rd Mrs JS Ellis’  FITZFORD CHI CHEEMAUN

MINOR PUPPY DOG   (5,0 Absent)
1st Mr G & Mrs L Hennessy’s  RITZILYN PASADENA

Mature eye-catching baby, a happy showman, and a very sound mover. Strong quarters, good depth of chest and ribs well sprung for age, firm topline, neat feet and strong pasterns. Pleasing head and expression. Should have a bright future.

2nd Mr & Mrs G Suddaby’s TREWATER JUNO FOR DREAMWELL

Lovely head and expression, excellent reach of neck and level topline. Not yet with the depth of 1.

3rd Mr D & Mrs H Woodley’s GATCHELLS ROYAL AMBASSADOR

JUNIOR DOG  (20,1 Absent)

1st Mrs P Arnold’s DIKEADAZE DYSON
This young man caught my eye on the initial move, the best mover in his class, he was very accurate fore and aft,, has real drive  and holds himself well carrying his tail correctly.  A happy lively showman, his construction is good throughout and he has a very pleasing head and expression.

2nd Mr D & Mrs Wendy Andrews’ CATCOMBE COCK A DOODLE DOO JW

Unlucky to meet 1, beautifully presented mature boy, with firm topline, neat feet, well boned, good spring of rib, correct angulation and a sound mover.

3rd Mrs K Ellis TENFIELD SEA BISCUIT

YEARLING DOG  (19,2 Absent)

1st Mrs Sillence & Mrs T Theed’s SQUIRRELSMEAD DIGBY OF
CANINA JW
Lovely balance on this large blonde boy, I liked him a lot. A happy showman and a very sound mover, excellent topline, good tail carriage, neat feet and strong pasterns, good reach of neck and deep mature body. Just needs a little more feathering under the loin to complete the picture.

2nd Mr DR & Mrs SA Barnes THORNYWAIT MUSIC MAKER AT MILLGREEN

JW
Giving his handler a very hard time, but a very sound mover and  using his excellent quarters to good effect, lovely head and expression, but not quite the balance of 1.

Well sprung ribs, pleasing head and expression and well made all through. Steadier on the move here than in his earlier class. In excellent coat.

2nd Mrs JE Muncey’s BERNEWODE FOURTEEN FINALES FOR KENNELRIDGE
Lovely make and shape, excellent reach of neck and a sound mover but very lacking in body at the moment. Pleasing head and expression.

3rd Mrs K Ellis TENFIELD SEA BISCUIT

GRADUATE DOG  (9,2 Absent)

1st Mrs M Joy’s SHARDANELL CASTASPELL
Moved well and with drive on neat feet, good front , nice reach of neck and well laid shoulders, pleasing head and expression. Still needs to fill in under the loin but otherwise a very nice boy.

2nd Mr B & Mrs D Whitworth’s  DIBBLESDAE MAGIC DRUMMER JW
Most appealing head and expression, super pigmentation and a lovely balanced outline, excellent topline and tail carriage but not as accurate on the move as 1.

3rd Mrs T & Miss LA Layland’s APPLECOTE BILLY BONGO

POST GRADUATE DOG  (23,4 Absent)

1st Miss M & Mrs J Grady’s  STANROPH SECURITY BOY
Darker dog who reminded me very much of my own first Champion. Loved his head and expression, well constructed fore and aft and moved with drive from strong quarters, carrying himself well on neat feet, strong pasterns and in good coat.

2nd Mr SR & Mrs JL Crang’s MONCHIQUE SKYMANS HERO IN LINOAKS
Very short coupled boy, and an excellent mover. Good depth and spring of rib, well made and in firm condition just preferred the head on 1.

3rd Miss SA Skinner’s MOCHATEL COULD BE MAGIC

MID LIMIT DOG  (14,1 Absent)

1st Mr RC & Mrs LJE Maynard’s CHINNORDALE KIRRIEBILLIE JW
The star of the day, in gleaming rich gold coat, have never seen him looking better. Sound mover and in really hard condition lovely construction both fore and aft, good depth of chest and spring of rib, level topline, excellent reach of neck and a lovely head and expression. CC and Best in Show

2nd Mr NR Brown’s SHARDANELL TALK O'THE TOWN AT IPCRESS JW
Lovely blonde boy I have done well for before, but today did not quite have the maturity through the loin to beat 1, but he is young and I’m sure this will come. Very sound mover, strong level topline well balanced body beautifully presented.

3rd Mrs JM Bridges & Mrs JE Muncey’s KENNELRIDGE JACK THE LAD

LIMIT DOG  (23,1 Absent)
1st Mrs M Joy’s SHARDANELL ALL THAT JAZZ JW

A pleasure to go over this well made dark gold boy, who has everything in the right place, moves well and with real drive on good feet. Liked his well shaped kind head, beautifully presented and has real presence, pushed hard at the end of the day, it was a very close decision. Res CC
2nd Mrs Lynne Marrow’s  ROBSCRAIG FLEET ADMIRAL OF MEDULLA

Very happy showman, strong topline, lovely head and expression, well balanced body and moved well.
 3rd D Challenger-Fenn & Mrs J Foster’s CHALKSVILLE MAJOR PURSUIT AT JANDEBURN ShCM
